A Note From the Founder
Banyan Bell began with a simple question. How can children grow up hearing the stories, values, and traditions that have connected Indian families for generations, without adding more screen time to their day?
Many of these stories are available through books, videos, and recordings, but it can still be difficult for parents to find versions that are authentic, respectful, age-appropriate, and engaging for young children. I wanted to create a place where families could confidently choose a story, press play, and share a meaningful few minutes together.
Banyan Bell offers traditional stories drawn from Hindu heritage, thoughtfully adapted for children. Each is easy to understand, enjoyable to hear, and appropriate for a child's age. It also offers personalized stories that gently include your child in the experience, without changing or diminishing the original tradition. The deities in these stories are always portrayed with care and reverence.
Every story is read line-by-line before it is shared, to make sure it is respectful, accurate, and appropriate for the child's age. That review is my job, and it always will be.
Banyan Bell is not intended to replace parents, grandparents, books, or family storytelling. It is one more way to keep these stories present in everyday life, especially for children growing up far from India.
My hope is that Banyan Bell becomes part of a peaceful bedtime, a quiet afternoon, a long car ride, or any moment when a child wants to hear a meaningful story.
Thank you for being here, and for helping these stories continue into the next generation.
